The artwork consists of four pieces: two depicting gardens, one featuring a peacock, and the other representing Şahmaran, the sole female figure in Turkish mythology. These pieces were collectively created in Bangalore, India, in collaboration with women’s communities and local artists.
The Peacock and Şahmaran pieces were produced collectively with women’s groups. The garden representations were created using two different methods. One employed eco-printing, a sustainable technique where plants and flowers from the region were directly imprinted onto silk fabric. The other garden piece was produced in collaboration with local master artisans at Bangalore’s oldest traditional woodblock printing studio, using archival blocks.
This project was carried out in Bangalore, India, as part of the BangaloREsidency Artist Residency program in 2024.
